Creative Date Ideas: Fun and Creative Ideas to Share

The best date is one that doesn’t feel like a date at all. One of the keys to success in dating is being creative and finding new ways to do things that are fun and interesting for both parties involved.  It’s a time to get out of your comfort zone and try new things. Finding something new to do on a date can be difficult, but it’s worth the effort!

It can serve also as an opportunity to learn more about each other and to deepen your relationship. Creativity is important, but also make sure to have some fun while you’re at it.

Here are some creative date ideas to help you.

*Going back in time* – Grab a game from an old arcade and stop by the ice cream truck for dessert! Or, if it’s wintertime, make your way over to a holiday market or light show, and you’ll be guaranteed happy memories of this winter together.  You can also visit an old vintage or antique mall for a little browsing.

*High art* – If you’re not into the typical date activities, find ways to do new things with your partner!  You could go on a gallery crawl together and stop by all of your favorite artists’ work or explore galleries that are in town but out of reach.  This is a great way to get away from the typical dinner and movie date.

*Local activities* – If you’re looking for a night out but don’t want it to be too taxing, find something that is close by!  Go on a hike at your favorite green space or walk through one of those open-air markets in town.  It doesn’t have to be anything crazy, but it can still be a lot of fun. It can be a great opportunity to show your partner a new part of town or explore something in particular.

*Hidden gems* – It may seem clichéd now, but going on a picnic is always a great idea!  Pack your favorite foods and drive somewhere scenic for lunch or dinner. This will give you the chance to enjoy nature together even in the wintertime and also have a genuinely relaxing time.

*Food for thought* – If the idea of going out to eat is too expensive, then consider cooking together!  Pick two recipes that you both like and decide who will cook what beforehand.  It’ll be fun experimenting in the kitchen with your loved one while getting some good quality time on top of it.

*Game night* – This may seem like an obvious choice, but sometimes it’s the classics that you should turn to.  Purchase a couple of games from your childhood and have fun together!  Board games are great for date nights because they’re easy to learn and don’t require much prep or commitment.

*Build a campfire together and enjoy sitting by it and talking.  Roast marshmallows or hot dogs.* – Light a campfire and chat. The scent of the fire, the sound in the distance, or singing in unison while roasting marshmallows or hot dogs can all make for an enjoyable date night.

*Build something together* – This may be as simple as building a sandcastle on the beach to more elaborate ideas like home improvement painting, or building furniture. It could bring out the creative side of your date while also providing a chance to do something together.

*Bike ride* – Bike rides are a great way to spend time together and see the city at the same time.  Renting bikes for the day or borrowing from a friend can be an easy way to find a bike.  Load up your bike baskets with picnic supplies – this could be anything from chips and peanuts to a full meal.  This can also make for the perfect date idea if you’re in love with that biker look but aren’t so much of an outdoorsy person.

*Rock climbing* – Rock climbing is a great date idea that could be something as simple and fun as indoor rock walls to more adventurous outdoor climbs.  It provides an adrenaline rush, but can also serve as a way for two people with different skill levels to work together, it will be something that you share and not just do together.  Physical activity is always a great way to get closer to someone.

*Scavenger* – This is one of those things where it can go two ways: the person who comes up with a list to find interesting objects for you and your date to collect has fun coming up with ideas, while the other person has just as much fun finding them – plus there’s no pressure about either of you having to do anything in particular.

We hope you’ve found some creative date ideas that resonate with your relationship.  Creative date ideas can make a day out for two partners feel more fun, spontaneous, and emotionally important.  Give it a try!
